Car rental

If you wish to book a rental car, you can do so when making a reservation for the cottage of your choice. We have arranged advantageous all inclusive* tariffs for our guests with Auto Europa/Sicily by Car, our rental car partner for several years. This large and trustworthy company has rental desks at most Italian airports and in many towns. You'll find all the Terms & Conditions below the list of available cars on this page. Together with the cottage booking confirmation we will send you the car hire voucher with which you can collect the car at the Sicily By Car desk.

Extra's (babyseats, GPS unit) can be requested in the 'additional remarks' field at the end of the booking process.

Car rental Terms and Conditions:

• Minimum renting period is 3 days
• Rentals days not used will not be reimbursed

Tariffs INCLUDE:

• Unlimited mileage
• T.L.W. (Theft Loss Waiver)*
• C.D.W. (Collision Damage Waiver)*
• 3rd Party Property
• Fire insurance
• 14% Airport Tax
• V.A.T. 20%

* these release the client from financial responsibility for the vehicle in case of an accident or theft. Damage to the underside of the vehicle, the tires, the interior or windscreens, or for any damage incurred whilst the driver was not observing the highway code is not covered

What is not included:

• Road Tax : €5,00 per day at a maximum of 10 days, to be paid for locally at the desk
• Second driver: €5,57 per day
• Insurance coverage for personal injuries to drivers or passengers. Optional coverage (PIA) is available locally for an additional fee. €6,00 + VAT / per day

Deposit:

The client is required to present a credit card (type Amex/Diners/Visa/Mastercard) in their name to cover costs in case of: damage to the vehicle not covered by CDW/TLW waivers; when the car is not returned with a full tank of fuel. For groups I/P/U, the client must present 2 credit cards in their name.

Accessories

Luggage racks, ski racks, baby seats and snow chains are available in all our locations and should be requested at the time of booking. An additional charge of €39,00 + VAT should be paid directly in loco at the time of rental. GPS unit cost € 61,50 per week.

No Show

A supplement of €100,00 + VAT will be charged in the case of no show.

Age and Driving License

For car groups A1/B/C/D/E1/F, the driver must be at least 23 years old and possess a valid drivers licence, that has been held for more than a year prior to hiring the car. For all other car groups, the driver must be at least 25 years old, and possess a valid drivers licence that has been held for more than 3 years prior to hiring the car. The maximum age of the driver for all of the car groups is 75.

Fuel and Refuelling Charge

All of our cars, vans and scooters are delivered with a full tank of fuel (petrol or diesel). In the case that the vehicle is not returned with a full tank of fuel, a charge of €11,00 + VAT will be applied in addition to the cost of the missing fuel.

One way rentals

If the pick and drop off destinations are different and within mainland Italy and/or Sicily an additional €26,00 + VAT 20% will be charged. This can be paid in cash or by credit card at the desk.

Out of Hours

In the majority of our rental locations pick-up and drop-offs outside normal office hours is allowed. From 23:00 to 24:00 a supplement of &eur;35 + VAT applies. After 24:00 a supplement of €80,00 + VAT applies. Out of hour and "on request" operations must be confirmed in advance. For this service, clients will be asked to pay a local supplement of €31,00 + VAT.

Late returns

For vehicle drop-offs, a maximum tolerance of 59 minutes is allowed (with the exception of our special formulas such as weekend and long-term rentals) after which, an extra days rental will be charged (at our local rate in operation at the time).

Loss of documents, licence plates and keys

• In case of loss and/or damage to car and rental documents the client will be charged a fine of €50,00 + VAT.
• In case of loss and/or damage to car keys the client will be charged a fine of €200 + VAT.
• In case of loss and/or damage to one or both car licence plates car the client will be charged a fine of €360,00 + VAT.

Extra drivers

For each additional driver, a supplement of €4,60 + VAT per day is required, to be paid in loco.

Oil and Maintenance

Expenses for engine oil will be reimbursed upon presentation of a receipt made out to Sicily by Car S.p.A. No other types of expenses will be reimbursed without prior authorisation from our staff.

Type of vehicle

Although Auto Europa endeavours to deliver the vehicle requested by the client, the make and model cannot always be guaranteed. In the case that a requested model is not available, another vehicle of the same or of a superior category will be delivered.

Fines

All fines and charges relating to breaches of the highway code relating to a rental period will be charged directly to the renter.

Complaints

Any complaints must be received by our main office within 60 days of the closure of the rental agreement. N.B.: Rates and conditions subject to change without prior notice. The company reserves the right to refuse rentals for whatever reason.
